CLUTCH PEDAL — TO REMOVE AND REPLACE

SECTION – Remove the pedal adjustment clamping bolt, slacken the bolt which
316 clamps the pedal to the shaft and the pedal can then be driven off the
shaft. To replace, reverse the operations for removal. Finally re-adjust
                                          clutch pedal ( Section 302 ).

                                       GROUP VII

                                       COOLING SYSTEM

                                       WATER CIRCULATION

SECTION The engine is cooled by water circulated through the jackets of the cylinder
330 block and head by a centrifugal pump mounted on the front face of the

cylinder head, and driven by an endless belt from a pulley fitted to the end
of the camshaft. Attached to the pulley fitted to the end of the impeller
spindle of the pump is a four-bladed cooling fan. The pump draws the water
from the bottom of the radiator and delivers it to the cylinder block, where
it flows through the passages round the cylinder walls and cylinder head to
the outlet pipe attached to each end of the cylinder head and the top of the
radiator, through which the heated water returns to the radiator.

                                       TO DRAIN ( Before R3061 )

SECTION To drain the cooling system when occasion arises, remove the drain plug
331 fitted in the bottom of the radiator, and open the drain tap at the rear of

the cylinder block on the carburettor side. By removing the drain plug, the
water will be drained from the cylinder head and radiator, but the water in
the base of the cylinder water jackets will remain and the cylinder drain tap
must be opened to drain off this water.

NOTE:- It is not only necessary to open the cylinder block drain tap, but
to see that the water flows out unimpeded because if the tap has not been
opened for a considerable period it may be partially or entirely choked in
which case some water will remain in the block.

                                       TO DRAIN ( After R 3060 )

SECTION On cars bearing chassis number R 3061 and onwards, the radiator drain plug
332 is fitted in the radiator bottom pipe, and to drain the cooling system, it is
necessary to remove this plug and open the drain tap at the rear of the
cylinder block, as stated in ( Section 331 ).
