BRAKE SHOES — TO REMOVE
( See Figure 12 )
SECTION – Remove rear hubs ( Section 101 ) .
270 – Remove the nut located in the centre of the hand wheel adjustor; the
bolt ‘D’ can then be withdrawn and the plain washer removed. Hold
the two bent washers fitted in the slot in the centre of the hand wheel
in position; then, by turning the hand wheel in the opposite direction to
that in which the feet on the end of the spokes point, the brake adjustor
can be removed
– Slacken the lacking nuts and unscrew the set screws ‘A’. The pull, off
spring ‘E’ can then be removed from the tensioning hooks, after which
both brake shoes can be removed by pulling them sideways out of the
guides. Care should-be taken when removing the rear shoe as the register
spring fitted in the shoe and operating between the guide will fly out.
