( ‘F’, Fig. 7 ) which clamp the handbrake cross shaft bearing brackets
to the cross member. These can then be knocked along the member to
facilitate the removal of the brake drum. By removing the castellated nut
from the rear end of the gearbox sliding gear shaft, the brake drum can
be removed.
TRANSMISSION BRAKE DRUM

SECTION To remove the brake drum, it is not necessary to interfere with the hand
205 brake cross shaft on these cars, as this is mounted on the off side of the
chassis. Otherwise, the operations are the same as given in ( Section 204 ).
HAND BRAKE CROSS SHAFT
( Before R 3061 )
SECTION Description — A cross member carries the brackets for the hand brake
206 cross shaft bearings. Each bracket is split and clamped in position by a bolt
( ‘F’, Fig. 7 ). The cross shaft is mounted on roller bearings carried in
housings, and a stud machined integrally with the housings fits through
holes in the brackets on the cross member, and are clamped in position by
means of a castellated nut and dished washer.
