HANDBRAKE RATCHET
( After R 3060 ) — TO REMOVE
SECTION – Remove the two bolts attaching the ratchet to the side of the frame,
218 disengage the handbrake pawl, take out the distance pieces which locate
the position of the ratchet and the ratchet can be removed.
INSPECTION ( After R 3060 )
SECTION – Examine ratchet teeth for wear and if badly worn, the ratchet should be
219 replaced.
TO REPLACE ( After R 3060 )
SECTION Reverse the operations given for dismantling. The set in the pawl rod
220 should lightly rub the side of the frame in all positions, and the boss on the
handbrake lever should be in contact with the side of the ratchet quadrant.
If the boss does not rub the quadrant, plain washers of sufficient thickness
should be fitted behind the distance pieces to bring the quadrant into
contact with the boss.
