                         LUBRICATION


         SECTION         No oil pressure indicated on gauge when engine is running
             34          ( a )  Gauge incorrect.

                         ( b )  No oil in engine.
                         ( c )  Oil pressure regulator plunger stuck.
                         ( d )  Weak or broken oil pressure regulator spring.
                         ( e )  Main bearing oil pipes loose.
                         ( f )  Pump not working.
         SECTION         Low oil pressure indicated
              35         ( a )  Oil pressure regulator not operating correctly.

                         ( b )  Too much oil escapes through crankshaft bearings.
                         ( c )  Oil pipe unions leaking.

         SECTION         Insufficient or no oil passing to valve rockers
             36          ( a )  Filter cartridge and bye-pass valve choked.

                         ( b )  Restriction bush in crankcase to filter oil pipe choked.
                         ( c )  Air lock in oil pipe leading to cylinder head.

                         SPRINGS

         SECTION         Springs squeak
              37         ( a )  Dry or rusty spring leaves.

                         ( b )  Insufficient lubrication of spring shackles.

         SECTION         Springs appear to be too stiff
             38          ( a )  Dry spring leaves.
                         ( b )  Shock absorbers adjusted too tight.
                         ( c )  Lack of lubrication in shock absorbers ( ‘Smith’ shock absorbers only ).
                         ( d )  To much resistance from shock absorbers ( Hartford type ).

                         STEERING GEAR


         SECTION         Knock in steering column
             39          ( a )  Excessive end float in box.

                         ( b )  Low oil level in steering box.
         SECTION         Steering Rattle
             40          ( a )  Excessive end float in box.

                         ( b )  Slack steering joints.
                         ( c )  Roller requires adjusting deeper in mesh with cam.
                         ( d )  Low oil level in steering box.
