                       SECTION         One cell of battery regularly requires more water than the others and
                            15         specific gravity of acid lower
                                       ( a )   Cell leaks.
                                       ( b )  Plates short circuited.

                       SECTION         All cells of battery require frequent addition of water
                            16         ( a )   Charging rate too high.

                                       ( b )  Excessive over-charging.
                                       ( c )   Sediment in battery short circuiting plates.
                       SECTION         Starter will not turn Engine
                            17         ( a )   Battery nearly or completely discharged.

                                       ( b )  Loose or corroded battery terminals.
                                       ( c )   Imperfect brush contact.
                                       ( d )  Faulty armature winding.


                                       LIGHTING
                       SECTION         Bulbs short-lived
                            18         ( a )   Low voltage bulbs used.

                                       ( b )  Excessive over-charging of battery.
                                       ( c )   System short-circuited.

                       SECTION         Illumination dim
                            19         ( a )   Battery nearly or completely discharged.

                                       ( b )  Battery terminals corroded.

                                       ENGINE


                       SECTION         Apparent lack of power
                           20          ( a )   Dirty or faulty sparking plugs.

                                       ( b )  Carburettor jets partially choked.
                                       ( c )   Restricted supply of petrol to carburettor.
                                       ( d )  Water in petrol supply.
                                       ( e )   Fractured or broken Autovac suction pipe.
                                       ( f )   Leaking windscreen wiper tube.
                                       ( g )   Faulty high tension leads (nipped by cover plates).
                                       ( h )  Dirty or greasy distributor contact breaker points.
                                       ( i )   Distributor contact breaker points require adjustment.
                                       ( j )   Incorrect ignition timing.
                                       ( k )  Incorrect valve clearances.
                                       ( l )   Ignition coil low tension leads not making good contact
                                       ( m )  Low compression.
                                       ( n )  Engine requires de-carbonising.
                                       ( o )  Brakes rubbing or binding.
