GROUP XIII

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

SECTION In conjunction with chassis lubrication, the following must be given
555 attention at regular intervals:—

Weekly

– Fill up battery cells to correct level with distilled water.
– Check tyre pressures ( Section 650 ).

Each 1,000 miles
– Check four wheel brake adjustment ( Section 263 ).
Each 2,000 miles

– Readjust handbrake, if necessary ( Section 201 ).
Each 3,000 miles

– Clean and adjust distributor points ( Sections 526 and 527 ).
– Check valve clearances and readjust if necessary ( Section 410 ).
Each 4,000 miles
– Drain radiator and flush through by placing a hose in the filler cap and
allowing water to run through for a quarter of an hour. Afterwards, refill
system with clean rain water.
– Clean petrol filters ( Section 566 or 572 ).

Each 5,000 miles
– Test specific gravity of battery acid by means of an hydrometer.
– Clean dynamo and starter brushes.
– Clean and adjust sparking plug points. The gap at the plug points should

– Check clutch adjustment.
– Flush out Autovac ( Before R 4237 ).
Each 10,000 miles

– Examine and clean brakes.
– Check propeller shaft universal joint bolts for tightness.
