                            there with Cipriani. Came to England as engraver to King, ’64. R.A.
                            ’69. J Pilgrim Lo., Ch. of St James 1809. Hall Medal, G. Stwd. 1780.
                            Left London for Lisbon to take charge of Academy of Arts, 1802.
                            Died there 1815. Powerful draughtsman and brilliant engraver; did
                            much work in collaboration with Cipriani, and made engravings
                            after the leading painters of the day, as well as after the Italian
                            masters and Holbein.

                            of J.C. Bach ’72. Appeared at most of the principal concerts of his
                            day, including, as leader, Handel Festivals ’84, ’87, ’91 & ’92 and
                            Hayden’s visit to Oxford ’91.d ’99 (see also BORGHI 1777
             1778 Feb 13  J. ASHMULY, John, Esq.
             1778 Feb 13  J.  CARLINI, Agostino, Esq. Born at Genoa and came early to England.
                            ’69. Lived at King’s Sq. Ct. in 1770. Original member of R.A.
                            Exhibited there ’69-’87. “The most celebrated sculptor of his day”
                            Presented to the R.A. his bust of George III, now in the vestibule
                            at Burlington House. Two statues of his, and masks representing the
                            Tyne, Dee & Severn at Somerset House. Friend of Cipriani and
                            Bartollozi. d ‘90
             1778 Feb 13  J. ABEL Chas. Fred. Esq. Born at Koethen, nr Halle, ’25. Came to
                            London from Dresden as performer on viol-de-gamba; gave
                            concerts with J.C.Bach, also a member of the Lo.Probably a pupil of
                            J. Sebastian Bach. Intimate with Gainsborough, who twice painted
                            his portrait. Died in London ’87.
