Lodge of the Nine Muses 153
At the same meeting it was decided to apply for five tickets for the great
meeting to be held by the Craft at the Albert Hall on 14 June 1897, for the
purpose of presenting an address of congratulations to Her Majesty Queen
Victoria; the tickets to be “given” to the W.M., the S. W., the J. W., the Treasurer
and Secretary, “each of whom will pay for his ticket”, which cost a guinea.
A special jewel was prescribed to be worn in honour of the Diamond Jubilee
“By every member being a subscribing member of a Lodge under the Grand
Lodge of England.” The Lodge has no example of this jewel, but it may be seen
at the Grand Lodge Museum.
The coronation of King Edward VII was celebrated by a Banquet held at the
Grand Hotel on 13 May 1902; beyond the names of the twenty-four members
and thirty-three visitors present no particulars have been preserved.
On 24 June 1919, an Emergency Lodge, followed by a banquet, was held to
celebrate the peace following the War of 1914-18.
This took place at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, and the Lodge was
honoured by the Grand Lodge with the pleasing duty of entertaining a number
of distinguished American and other Brethren from overseas, then in London in
connection with the great Peace Celebration Meeting of the Grand Lodge held
at the Albert Hall on 27 June 1919.
