CHOKE TUBE
SECTION To remove choke, disconnect air strangler control wire, and remove air
577 cleaner from carburettor.
On cars bearing chassis number prior to R 3061 the air cleaner is
horizontal and attached to an elbow from the carburettor. To remove the
choke on these cars it is necessary to remove this elbow. Remove screw
( ‘D’ Fig. 38 ) which locates the position of the choke, and this can then be
withdrawn.
It is important when replacing to make certain that the choke tube is the
right way up ( number at the bottom ) and that the small countersink
registers with the hole for the choke locating screw ‘D’.
AIR CLEANER
SECTION The air cleaner fitted to the carburettor, requires no maintenance or
578 cleaning as it automatically ejects the extracted foreign matter.
