ThE hiDDEN mySTERiES OF NATuRE AND SCiENCE

N THE SECOND DEGREE we are charged to study the hidden mysteries of
Nature and Science and trace them to the throne of GOD himself. Much that was a
Imystery when our ritual was written has now been revealed by the progress of science.
So thick and fast have been the revelations recently that not only the faithless but even
many thoughtful people are being tempted to believe that one day we shall understand
everything and this would not lead to the throne of GOD.
Unfortunately, the way in which modern discoveries, such as “Life on Earth” and
“How the Universe Began” are taught and displayed upon the Television screen leave out
any reference to the Almighty Architect of All. The fact that his “all seeing Eye” observes
us, is ignored and this has greatly encouraged the modern Permissive Society and Unbelief.
Ask yourselves, “Why should all vegetation and living creatures have developed in
the way that they have?” They could easily have evolved in other ways and the Laws
concerning them, which are still being unveiled, could have been something different.
Does this not point to some control and some decision.
The Physicists now understand how matter can be destroyed, Time can be changed
and Space can expand; and Astronomers have discovered “Black Holes” in space which are
completely void. These holes are explained as being just Power to be made into Matter and
possibly into Time. They eventually explode and we observe a great Light which is said to be
the beginning of a new constellation. Surely this lends credulity to the ancient timeless and
unexplained historical statement that had previously been discredited by the earlier scientists.
Now listen and compare these modern discoveries with verses two to four of the
First Chapter of the Book of Genesis, and note a striking likeness. — “And the Earth
was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit
of GOD moved upon the face of the waters. And GOD said — Let there be Light —
and there was Light. And GOD saw that it was good. And GOD divided the Light from
the Darkness.” According to the Book of Genesis, that is what GOD first did before he
created anything else. I feel that this comparison is inspiring. The thought of how these
words came to be written down, to say the least of it, is remarkable. Yet only fifty years ago
the first Chapter of Genesis was considered to be an inaccurate allegory for the Jews to
explain the inexplicable.
