Linacre College — Cherwell Edge
From Convent to College
The porthole-style windows have been used on
the top floor of all the buildings, as seen here in
one of the old cubicles.
New stained glass windows were commissioned
from Vital Peters (working below). The stained
glass in the chapel had already been removed.
Despite opposi on, Linacre acquired Cherwell
Edge from the University in 1976. Now the
College could offer accommoda on and study The chapel became a library. There was a bar
rooms for some of its students. and a hall large enough to hold formal dinners.
Some parts of the College have changed, such
as the first recep on, but the fountain remains.
