“Cherwell Edge” Expands
1985: The Bamborough Building provided 20 2008: The Griffiths Building, opened by Rodney

The Bamborough Building garnered an Oxford
Preserva on Trust Award for the architect, Jack
Lankester, for the “contribu on made to the
preserva on and enhancement of Oxford’s
heritage”. As one Old Member put it in a le er
to Bam, it was “a beau ful addi on to the
original buildings.”
2010: The Rom Harré Garden, established on land
leased from New College, replaces the space
given up for the Griffiths Building. It provides a
quiet and beau ful oasis in College, as well as
honours a Linacre Emeritus Fellow and others
who are remembered with garden furniture.
