N JuNE 1993 I attended a Business Meeting in Boston u.s.A., and was
looking forward to attending a meeting at the Henry Price Lodge, under
Ithe auspices of The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. Before leaving England
I had obtained an introduction to Worshipful Brother Ward Williamson, who
was Assistant Librarian for the Grand Lodge.
Before the anticipated meeting at the Henry Price Lodge on Wednesday,
23rd June I met Brother Williamson at the Grand Lodge Library, and to my
excitement he showed me two copies of the first Hundred years’ History of the
Lodge of the Nine Muses number 235, which was my own Mother lodge. I
particularly appreciated his kindness as, knowing where I was coming from, he
had taken the trouble to look up these books for my perusal.
I suspected that there were no copies of this book at my own lodge and
asked if I could have a copy to take home with me, and so a deal was struck.
Brother Williamson agreed to this providing I would let him have an up to date
copy of the more recent history.
upon my return home I spoke to our secretary, Worshipful Brother Michael
Lepper LGR, and he arranged for a copy of the history covering the period
from 1777 to 1939 to be sent to the states and in return we received a copy of
the First Hundred years’ History as agreed.
This book is a copy of that first Hundred Years’ History of the Lodge of the Nine
Muses number 235.
