Meet our Blacksmith

Arwel started playing with fire & steel at an early age, and moved on to study for a degree in metallurgy, shortly after he became a Design and Technology teacher. Arwel has since left this profession to become a full time blacksmith where he now forges metal into both useful items, and beautiful decorative pieces; such as gates & railings, knives & axes, as well as the odd sculpture and once, an ornate crown!

Kevin Raymond, with 41 years' experience Come and see Kevin at work crafting the finest quality Welsh Slate house and business signs. Gilded in copper, silver or 23.5 carat gold leaf. Unique, bespoke signs just for you.

Tree House Pottery

Come and explore your creative side: Clay modelling or throw a pot on a potter's wheel. Everyone leaves with their own work of art. No experience necessary, there's always a first time for everything. We celebrate wonky pots and imperfection!

Pottery Experience

Book a pottery experience: 1 hour clay modelling/potter's wheel. Explore 2 methods of pottery, leaving with your work of art at the end. Ideal for under 14's or families.

Basic Blacksmithing Course 2019

Group sizes: One on One preferred, but can accommodate up to 2 students

Suitable for ages 18 and over (please contact us if the student will be younger)

Arrive at 10:00am for 10:30am start " Get started, and learn the basic techniques that will allow you to shape and forge Iron and steel. " All tools and materials provided " Take home your forged items, including, but not limited to: Nails, "S" Hooks, and a pair of tongs to get you going. Individually tailored courses available, tell us what you'd like to do, and we will accommodate the best we can (depending on tools/equipment/resources etc) Blacksmithing is a very physical activity, and suitable clothing must be worn, i.e. a stout pair of shoes (absolutely no open toes), tough trousers, and no man-made fibres (shell suits can melt and cause unbelievable burns).

Weaving/Spinning Woollen Mill Experience 2019

During this course you will be taught the traditional and more modern methods of the processes that we use in the Woollen Mill on a daily basis to create various products, to better your knowledge and understanding of the textile industry as a whole.

Our Woollen Mill Experience Day course is aimed at people of all ages, we are also able to take group bookings, family sessions etc. which will allow you to get the most out of your time during your day. This course is a great opportunity to learn an age old craft, meet new friends and have fun. Please contact us before booking if you have any injuries or disabilities. Please note that due to government advice pregnant women are unable to participate in this workshop.

Woodturner's Workshop

Our woodturner, has a display of various items including vases, candlesticks, pot pourri dishes, bowls, light pulls, doorstops and lots more made from a variety of local woods.
