ICKFORD                                             The summer holidays flew by and this morning Pre-
                     Tug-of-War                                        School staff watched the new Reception children skip
                                                                         into school, with a tinge of sadness that they have
                                                                         moved onto pastures new, but knowing that their
                                                                       experiences in pre-school will have set them up with the
                                                                        curiosity, social skills and resilience needed to make
                                                                        fantastic progress throughout their formal schooling.


                                                                        The setting is still buzzing with the sounds of our returning
                                                                        pre-schoolers reacquainting themselves with what we
                                                                        have to offer, as well as the voices of today’s new children:
                                                                        Arthur and Sebbie. Later we will be joined by Lily, Ronnie,
                                                                        Joseph, Rory, Emmet, Rodman, Jules and more children
                                                                        who will be moving into the village in the coming months.
                                                                        We look forward to getting to know them and their families.

                                                                                This term we are focusing on ‘Ourselves’, covering
                                                                                similarities and differences, likes and dislikes and
                                                                                what makes us all unique. We will be focusing on
                                                                                a couple of stories, songs and nursery rhymes
                                                                                each week, beginning with the books  ‘Only
                                                                                One Me’ and ‘Happy in our Skin’. We have many
                                                                                children who speak different languages at home
                                                                                and have created dual-language story sacks
                                                                                to support home/pre-school links, and we are
                                                                                looking forward to expanding our knowledge of
                                                                                other cultures and ways of life.

                                                                                In June we had a lovely summer trip to Fairytale

                                                                                sunny day, the farm was the perfect size for us to
            at St Nicholas                                                      explore but not feel too rushed, and the children
                                                                                were an absolute credit to their families. We fed
                                                                                different breeds of pigs, petted small animals like
                                                                                rabbits and guinea pigs and took goats for a walk!
                                                                          We welcome visits to the Pre-School so you can
                                                                          see what we do.  If you would like your child to join
                                                                          Pre-School, or have a look around, please contact
                                                                          us.  Check if you qualify for 30 hours funding on

                                                                          We are also able to accept two year old funded
                                                                          children.

                                                                          Breakfast Club and 3.15pm-6pm for After School
