     CHURCH MATTERS
We held a special service of
     Celebration and Thanksgiving to mark
the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty,
                     th
the Queen on Sunday 5 June. A
     small working party decorated the
     church on Saturday morning with
flower arrangements and the altar had
a photographic tribute to the Queen
set on the Union Flag. The church
     looked very beautiful. Outside, the
     churchyard was strung with bunting
and the arch over the porch was
garlanded with flowers in red, white
     and blue.
The bells were rung for half an hour
before the service in celebration of
the Jubilee and to call people to the
     service. The service had hymns,
     readings and prayers of thanksgiving
for a life of dedicated, loyal service to
the nation and to the people of this
     country and the Commonwealth by
     the Queen.
