Irisbus EuroRider/Plaxton Paragon
The Irisbus EuroRider has been around for some years now, but few have Plaxton bodies. Pegasus Coaches of Perth has one and is enthusiastic about it.
At £180,000 the price appealed, and Pegasus believes it was a good investment. The 49-seat coach has Plaxton paragon bodywork, a straightforward and attractive design, and apparently well put together. The Pegasus EuroRider has never skipped a beat and returns around 9mpg. For operators looking for a reliable standard coach, the Iveco (Irisbus)/Plaxton combination looks like a sensible one; as a driver, the only niggles concerned the instrument display, and with Euro 4 models coming on stream in the autumn, it seems likely these will be sorted.
In the UK the Irisbus name may not yet have the appeal of bigger players like Scania and Volvo, but the EuroRider with Plaxton bodywork proved to be an unexpectedly attractive combination.
